Adventures in Iceland: Trekking in the Backcountry
Jeremy Brouillet, Graduate Student, Caltech,

Journey to Iceland, a land of volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and hot springs. Come hear me talk about my travels in Iceland at the midpoint between summer and winter, where the foliage bears autumn colors and the aurora shines in the night sky. Learn of difficulties of backpacking in a country where the typical forecast is heavy rains and the main road is threatened by glacial calving. In a landscape that inspired Tolkien, see the remnants of recent lava fields, boiling pits of mud and sulfuric acid, and waves crashing into icebergs.

The talk will be followed by a reception with free refreshments.

Alpine Club Talks are co-sponsored by the Sierra Peaks section of the Sierra Club.
